About Hazards

Nepal is a country of diversified topography and has very rugged terrain. Although the diversity beautifies the country, it makes the country vulnerable to various kinds of hazards. Nepal lies in the most earthquake-prone regions underneath which the Indian and Eurasian plates meet. The rugged landscape of Nepal poses the threat of landslides, flood, inundation in the flatlands, avalanches in the mountainous region, etc. The change in the elevation of the land bring large meteorological changes, in the atmosphere, resulting in the occurrence of severe thunderstorm and lightning, hail storms, forest fires, snowstorms etc.
